It's not the direct political issues that are concerning but what will the populace think?  What will the Crown think?  It's seen murders aplenty but ever a suicide?  How will that propel the Ice?

They do..but Sahul is a living thing...as the Emperors die so does the Ice generally advance.  Now we find out if the manner of death has any impact.  The Ice was already massively strong this at the old age of our first Kith'ix'i Empress.
