I figure this is a pretty media-active group so I'd make it it's own topic.
Went to see Sam Raimi's Drag Me To Hell this weekend.
If you liked the second Evil Dead, you might like it. Not as slapstick but infinitely more polished.

I may have to give that a try.
I saw The Hangover on Friday and Land of the Lost on Sunday.
The Hangover is funny, kind of like Very Bad Things crossed with Dude Where's My Car.
I can't recommend Land of the Lost. I wanted to like it, but...meh. Go ahead and put it in your Netflix queue for when there's nothing else to watch.
BTW: the wife and I see movies (upwards of 60 a year in the theater plus rentals), it's our thing. So if you are wondering if something is worth seeing go ahead and ask, I've probably seen it.

The g.f. and I went to see Up this weekend. What can I say except Pixar keeps its streak alive! The movie is a little sadder, more bittersweet than some of the movies, but it has a depth that one rarely associates with animated movies. I highly recommend!

I agree. Up is an excellent movie. Poignant is the word I'd use to describe it. Very unusual for an animated film.

I showed my dad the preview for it a month ago and he's been excited to see it ever since. We'll be going this weekend.
I love the dog with the colar in the preview.

The dog with the collar does not disappoint. He is probably the funniest character in the movie!

I'll throw 2 tv recommendations out there to anybody
The "IT Crowd" and "Food Party" both on the independet food chanel.
IT Crowd is typical british comedy. Really good characters. Not much IT in it, but when it's touched on it's done well. Great spoof of facebook this past week.
Food party had good sock puppets. Kind of like Pee Wee's playhouse, but for adults, kinda....

This is one of those movies that you probably already know whether or not you want to see....
Crude, lowbrow and occasionally profane -- within PG-13 limits -- but undeniably funny. Michael Cera and Jack Black have a nice rapport and it has an excellent supporting cast.

Went to see the Transformers today. Wow. If they used all the computing power that went into the CGI, they could have found a cure for cancer. It was loud, incoherent and Megan Fox, is well, Megan Fox. I really can't do it justice, so read this review from io9. They have nailed it. http://io9.com/5301898/michael-bay-finally-made-an-art-movie

I wanted to like this movie more than I actually did. I actually have fond memories of the original '70s version -- I haven't seen it in decades so I don't know if it held up to the test of time.
The new version had the same claustrophobic sense of the original when Denzel Washington and John Travolta are on the radio with one another. But I thought it failed when it tried to open up into a more conventional action-adventure pic.
I would say see it if you want a more mature change of pace to the many teen comedies and animated flicks out there -- or if you're a big fan of Washington or Travolta. Otherwise, not so much.

You expressed how I felt about that movie exactly. The wife and I rented the original last summer. It still works pretty well. I like Denzel Washington and he's great in this, but it just didn't seem to work correctly in the third act.

Just watched a flick called "Hot Fuzz"....not a porno, oddly, with a title like that.
Very funny cop-buddy-movie spoof.
