That's a spell crystal, different animal entirely.  A mana crystal acts like a batter and holds mana, a regular crystal just is a blank that a spell can be copied into.  You need an Arcane forge for a Mana Crystal.

Tinker of the Taorist has also brought troops for this assault and is allowing Inky to be the Field Marshall as well.  IF Inky casts battle magic will is cover Binky and Tinker's troops as well since they're a multi nation task force working as one?

I would think regardless of where they came from that if given to an allied leader they immediately become allied units.
